Staycation for 21+

We've covered what you might be looking for in a staycation during the day, but what about at night? For those of you 21and older, Wantagh is the perfect destination for going out at night. Equipped with over 12 bars, you won't be able to refuse heading to Wantagh for the perfect night out.

Mulcahy's:
In 2010 Mulcahy's of Wantagh was voted by the Long Island Press as having the best bartenders, the best sports bar and the best happy hour. On any given night you can find celebrity guests ranging from Bret Michaels, The Jersey Shore's Pauly "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio, and Third Eye Blind hanging out and performing at Mulcahy's. With specials and events going on every night, Muclahy's is the place to be for people all over Long Island to throw back a few drinks and mingle.

 Boss Croker's:
Wednesday night is wing night at Boss Croker's where you can have wings for 10cents.Whether you're looking to play darts or you're looking for a bar with wireless internet connection, Boss Croker's is a great place to go to have a few beers with great company. Boss Croker's is also equipped with High Definition TV's so all of you sports lovers don't have to worry about missing the big game.

Wantagh, NY - Summer Staycation Part II

If my first post didn't entice enough for you to come and take a staycation in Wantagh, maybe this post will. In addition to the six acres of beach, the boardwalk and restaurants located in Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh is home to the Wantagh Park. Wantagh Park consists of 111 acres and provides a waterfront location and numerous opportunities for recreation, along with seating areas that allow visitors to relax and enjoy the magnificent view.

Athletics:
  • There are five tennis courts and one basketball court.
  • Athletic fields include three softball fields and one baseball field, two of which are lighted
  • There are 1-mile and 2-mile walking paths that can also be used for bicycle riding and jogging.
  • Fitness trail:  incorporates stretching, pull-ups, sit-ups and balance walking exercises that increase slightly in difficulty as the trail proceeds.
Family/ Kids:
  • A playground located at the north end of the park - appropriate for toddlers through teens.
  • There are eight picnic areas, which include barbecue equipment, and one sheltered area Leisure Pass and fee required for reserved areas There is also a section available for small non-reserved picnic groups.

 Swimming:

Interactive Water Playpool
  • A swimming complex (fee required) includes an Olympic-sized main pool, a diving pool, a “kiddie” pool, training pool, an interactive water-play area and two waterslides (30 foot).
  • The pool complex includes lockers, showers, a concession stand, and lounge and deck chairs.

Wantagh, NY - The Gateway to Jones Beach

If you're looking to save a few bucks on a summer vacation, consider "staycationing" in Wantagh, NY. Wantagh is nicknamed "The Gateway to Jones Beach." Need I say much more? Jones Beach State Park has a little something for everyone.

Equipped with 6 acres of land and voted best park on Long Island, Jones Beach is perfect for catching a few rays or diving into the ocean for a refreshing swim. In addition to the ocean, Jones Beach has two swimming pools for those of you who are skeptical of swimming with the fishes!

In addition, Jones Beach State Park has four restaurants as well as a concession stand to keep you full and happy whether you're lounging on the beach or ending the day with a delicious and fresh meal.

Last but not least, if you have children with you and are concerned with how long they can sit on the beach, don't freak out. Jones Beach also includes deck games, the Jones Beach State Park Pitch and Putt Court, miniature golf and beach volleyball.
